Om Shaadi Om- The eternally free matrimonial website will soon be integrated with Facebook- the world’s best social networking website, a site that has redfined the word ‘Social’ and Social Networking.

I have been playing around with FBML- Face Book Markup Language, XFBML for last 3-4 days, and am liking it and enjoying it very much.

An example of Facebook Integration could be seen on this blog itself i.e. http://www.omshaadiom.org/blog

The blog is using this feature called Facbeook Connect. Using Facebook Connect, the facebook users can connect to this blog and post messages. Their profile pictures and names will come automatically in the comments they are posting. It took me sometime to implement this as no ready-made plugin was available for wordpress 2.8. However, the WP Facebook Connect worked well after modifications.

Still some changes have to be made in the code for Connect.

Very soon, the entire site will be fully connected to Facebook. I am working hard on it. It will be available readily to the Facebook users as an application.

So after this it will be like a ‘Facebook Shaadi’ for all. I believe that this matrimonial application has immense potential.

A drop down menu was added to the site. The drop down menu is accessible to members as well as non members. Please do not interpret that this menu is what I was working on for such a long time.

This is just an adhoc arrangement. This is just a trailor to the new interface. Many good things coming up!

The menu was implemented on the 1st of July, 2009. I am thankful to all the members (as well as non members) who have appreciated this and given such a wonderful response ! You have indeed strengthened my resolve.  I will be writing about the other good things that are about to happen tomorrow.

ॐ शादी ॐ now supports all major International and regional languages. This is because it now uses the Unicode character set. I will just show you the steps you need to take in order to create your profile in Hindi or any other regional language:

All you need to do is following:

Step 1:

Follow the hyperlink: http://www.google.com/transliterate/indic

Step 2:

Once there, the transliterator will be in action for you. Type anything in English and that will be converted automatically to Hindi or any other regional language like:

Hindi: ॐ शादी ॐ

Bengali: অম সাদী অম

Gujarati: ઓમ શાદી ઓમ

Kannada: ಓಂ ಶಾದಿ ಓಂ

Malayalam: ഓം ശാദി ഓം

Marathi: ओम शादी ओम

Nepali: ओम शादी ओम

Tamil: ஓம் சாடி ஓம்

Telugu: ఓం షాది ఓం

and a number of other regional languages and almost all major International languages.

Step 3:

Just copy and paste your profile from the Transliterator to the Om Shaadi Om Website. That is it.

So, We have learnt that in 3 easy steps we can make our profile in our mother tongue. It is so very easy.

All this is possible of this wonder called Unicode Character System.
